Oral Surgery – Extractions

Tooth extractions are needed for various reasons.

Mainly, extractions are needed for decayed or broken teeth that cannot be restored. Sometimes teeth need to be removed to make room for other teeth during orthodontic treatment. 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) can be extracted preventively to avoid problems in the future.

There are two main types of extractions:

  1. Simple: easier extraction the whole tooth can be removed in one piece and bone removal is not needed.
  2. Surgical: more difficult extraction the tooth will not come out in one piece and bone removal is needed to extract the whole tooth

Dr Wieczorek does extract teeth but cannot extract all teeth. More difficult teeth, at the doctor’s discretion, will need to be referred out to the oral surgeon.
